The planet does not need more ‘successful’ people. But it does desperately need more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers, and lovers of every shape and form. It needs people that live well in their places. It needs people of moral courage willing to join the fight to make the world habitable and humane. And these needs have little to do with success as our culture has defined it.
If your desire in life is to become a receptionist, to manage a retail store, to have a family, to become really good a baking, be really good at putting on make up, to do whatever you want to do, never feel ashamed of it. The world has lots of people doing amazing things and over achieving, it also has lots of people that tell you that you need to be that way too. You don’t have to be. You don’t have to move mountains, build villages in Africa, perform brain surgery, or become a lawyer.
Find a way to live that makes you happy, doesn’t hurt or hinder anyone else, and just do that.
